It's a busy and exciting spring here in Emporia (and Lawrence)!
School
In a week and a half, Kansas City ceramic sculptor extraordinaire Rain Harris will come and do a workshop and artist lecture for us at ESU. We hope she doesn't get snowed in again this year as we can't wait to hear about her new black clay and resin floral pieces.
Auctions:
This weekend "Innie" was auctioned off at the Kansas City Artists Coalition Annual Auction, and beginning on March 14, at The Lawrence Art Center Annual Auction, you can bid on "Catcher." I still have to decide what I will donate to the awesome Concealed/Revealed Annual Auction to benefit the Topeka YWCA Center for Safety & Empowerment on April 18. Great cause, great people.
Clay & Fiber:
I just shipped "Reach Out And..." to the UNF National Juried Ceramics exhibition in Jacksonville, Florida -- thanks to juror Bede Clark and the UNF Potter's Guild for hosting. Last week, "Invader" and "Dripping" went to Clay3 2014 at the ClaySpace in Warrenville, Illinois, thanks to juror Kurt Weiser, and in March, "Immobile" and "Clover" will go down the road to Liberal, Kansas, for the Baker Art Center National Juried Art Exhibition, thanks to juror Harry Longstreet. Meanwhile, lots of new work underway in the studio.
The Waiting Room Projects
Big news pending for upcoming exhibit venues this spring and next fall....Missouri and Florida, hopefully - stay tuned... Marguerite Perret and Bruce Scherting have been busy with their magical booking powers.
